What is Ninja Zen Meditation?
Ninja Zen Meditation is a meditation method based on traditional Japanese Ninjutsu. The ninja lived in darkness and trained their minds and bodies to overcome various difficulties. Ninja meditation carries on this spirituality and supports the peace of mind and growth of people today.
Points to note
The Ninja Zen Meditation is based on a deep spirituality that is distinctly different from the stereotypical image of the ninja that is commonly held. The meditation does not involve acrobatic movements, shuriken throwing, or any other flashy techniques.
Instead, this program focuses on the spiritual disciplines that were most important to the ninja in the actual execution of their missions. Specifically, it is structured around the meditation techniques they practiced to calm or inspire the mind, depending on the situation.
These meditation techniques were essential for the ninja to remain calm in extreme situations and to inspire courage and determination when needed. In today’s society, these methods of mental control are still very useful.
Through this meditation, participants will learn the techniques of mind-body harmony and self-control cultivated by the ninja, and will gain mental stability and flexibility in their daily lives. This is not a mere reenactment of history, but a practical mental training that adapts ancient wisdom to the modern world.
Ninja Zen Meditation Program Overview
Traditional Japanese techniques are imbued with deep meanings and effects that have been cultivated over a long history.
Ninjutsu, for example, is not just a martial art, but a practice to become one with nature, and is based on the idea of mind-body unification.
By adopting these techniques, we can rediscover the mind-body connection that is being lost in our modern society.
Three elements used by the ninja
“Sealing,” ‘Breathing,’ ”Bodywork.”
his program deepens meditation by following the five elements of nature (earth, water, fire, wind, and emptiness).
Experience the spiritual world of the ninja and feel the “emptiness” world that all ninja strived for.
Sealing
By focusing one’s attention on the act of making the mark, the five senses are sharpened and it becomes easier to enter a meditative state.
They utilized yuiin as an important tool for mind-body unification, rather than just a pose.
Breathing
Breathing in Ninja Meditation is more than just breathing; it is an important tool for mind-body unification. The Ninja have developed their own breathing techniques to keep calm and maintain their physical strength in various situations.
Bodywork
Physical manipulation is closely related to other elements, such as yuin and breathing exercises. For example, performing certain movements while performing yinjing can have a more profound effect.
nine-syllable mantra
As you learn to use the marks, you will be able to use them freely.
The first step is to practice by using the mark that best suits your purpose.
There are nine marks introduced here.
Beginning with the preparation stage of relaxing and facing yourself, you will work specifically inside and outside of the mind to create the mind for your purpose.
Then we work with the created mind in a concrete way inside and outside, and finally we reach sublime consciousness.
RIN
臨
The mark is characterized by the purpose of relaxing the body from the inside out. When the body is relaxed, acceptance and receptivity are enhanced.
When the body rejects the other person, the body also stiffens and the escape reflex is activated. The state of mind is expressed in the movements of the body, just like an animal baring its fangs in a threatening manner.
It is a sign that you can feel calm and gentle as when you welcome a family member into your home.
If you are nervous, the other person will be nervous too.
In everyday situations, it gives a sense of security to the other person and allows you to obtain information from him or her.
PYOU
兵
This sign signifies the great chakras.
Chakras are energy and are always in motion. This is a sign that aims for a state where the movement is circular, with no end and no end in sight. If you don’t have something you want to aim for, there is no point in making a sign. Even if you have energy, you cannot reach anywhere without a goal.
This is an indispensable mark for the realization of the self. Those who have practiced marks and meditation up to this point already have their own goals and are aware of their own state toward their goals.
This is a mark for those who want to keep their goals in the best possible state.
TOU
闘
This mark is used for action work on the outside.
When practicing with a sign, we practice with a partner to convey our power to the other person.
We practice in order to acquire the ability to act outwardly and influence through practice.
This is a sign that keeps you from becoming stuck inside yourself.
The practice of the four marks up to this point has created a state of fulfillment within you.
These marks are effective when you actually take action toward your goals.
SYA
者
This seal is connected to the Nai-baku seal, which is used to further clarify and find out the problems within oneself and to defeat the problems.
This seal is used to enhance the feeling of solving a problem. If you have a problem with yourself and you let it go, the problem will grow. If you do this, you will be stuck on the outside, so you use this sign with the purpose of solving the problem inside yourself in a concrete way. This marker is used to enhance the feeling of actually starting to move. It is used when you look inside yourself, face yourself, and sort out your conflicts.
KAI
皆
The characteristics of this mark are used for the purpose of strengthening the body and changing it into a taut body.
It is also used to keep outside demons from entering you.
As your physical condition changes, your mental condition will also change.
It helps to develop a mind that is unfazed and resistant to anything that may happen.
It is a sign that you are feeling weak physically and mentally, and you can use it to build up your stress-resilience.
It can make you more resistant to external pressure and make your defenses ironclad.
JIN
陳
The characteristics of this sign can be inspiring to yourself. There are times when you are feeling stressed out and weak.
When you still have to work hard, you can encourage yourself by forming this mark.
It is a sign that can prevent weakness and laziness from arising from within.
It is important to have an image of the physical body being warmed up when making the sign.
It is also effective for people who are cold because of office work to use this mark when they want to improve blood circulation, improve metabolism, and increase body temperature.
RETSU
列
From this point forward, the purpose of the mark goes from the concrete to the abstract.
In short, it goes from something that can be expressed verbally to a non-verbal sense.
The Chiken mark is based on the Buddhist mark, which can be interpreted concretely by imagining the state of having acquired the wisdom of the Buddha.
To give a concrete example, it is the mark of being able to accept information even if it disagrees with you, and being able to accept information as information without letting your feelings get in the way of the information.
ZAI
在
This marker is used to face one’s own heart.
The idea is that the light coming from the eyebrows will energize you, and the mark further trains you to locate your mind. When I am aware of something, I am at a distance from that thing.
For example, when I close my eyes and feel my fingertips, there is a sense of distance between my fingertips and the place in my body where I am trying to feel.
When you bring that sense of distance closer, you will be able to recognize the place of the mind.
The space between the eyebrows where the light enters is not the place of the mind; the place of the mind is at the end of the light.
ZEN
前
The characteristics of this mark are used to reassure oneself. It can be used to reassure yourself and prepare yourself to make the right decisions when you are hiding or putting yourself in danger.
It can also be used to eliminate one’s own presence or presence when one is under siege in daily life and everything around one seems to be the enemy.
Furthermore, when you don’t want to interact with others, you can use this sign to keep your mind off of them and keep your concentration on the task at hand.
It is a mark that allows you to concentrate on yourself without being influenced by those around you.
Program Benefits
Comprehensive mind-body coordination
Through the “Five Great Views,” we will approach both the physical and spiritual aspects of the body. Through work corresponding to the elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and emptiness, participants will progressively gain physical stability, flexibility, vitality, breath, and mental peace. This will increase your stress tolerance in daily life and improve your overall health and well-being.
Increased self-awareness and focus
Through various mark meditations and breathing exercises, participants deepen their awareness of their inner self and physical sensations. In particular, the “fire” and “wind” work will teach you to control your energy and focus your awareness on your inner self. This will lead to better self-understanding, increased concentration, and improved performance in daily life.
Promoting environmental adaptability and harmony
Participants will learn the concept of “changing colors” as taught by the Ninja, and develop flexibility through “water” work. In addition, in the “Sky” work, you will transcend your ego and experience a sense of oneness with your surroundings. This increases one’s adaptability to changing environments and makes it easier to harmonize with others and one’s surroundings. As a result, you can expect to improve your communication and problem-solving skills in social life.
Autonomic nerve balance adjustment
Through “yin” and “yang” breathing techniques and mark meditation, students learn how to consciously control the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. This develops the ability to relax oneself in stressful situations and, conversely, to increase one’s ability to concentrate. The result is improved emotional control and the ability to balance tension and relaxation appropriately, leading to an improved quality of daily life.
Improvement of physical sensation
Through “ninjutsu” or various bodywork exercises, students learn how to balance and use their bodies. This allows them to perform their daily activities more efficiently and reduces the risk of injury. Improved physical sensation also has a positive effect on the mental aspect of the body, leading to an improved overall sense of self-efficacy.
